@Gfunk: Not a shitpost. Can't imagine why one would think that. Second the Magma take.

Memento used a lot of language to describe it, but I’ve seen that YT video also. It’s pretty fascinating.
Here it is if anyone wants to watch

Yup. That is one of the videos I was referring to. On their rhythms see also:

Better site your sources next time or you're failing this class

I am sorry for failing to adhere to proper academic etiquette on a music forum. My mistake. Promise to do better next time.

Do you think they recorded this in costume?
|

I really dig this band but I saw a comment that called this "bacteria music" and it's all I can think of

I'm here because that KEXP live vid. But I don't see what's the point of this without a weird show.

I think the point is to enjoy awesome music.

Not scrolling through all the previous pages but assuming I'm not the first conspiracy theorist to call Industry Plant on this band?
Within a week going from nobodies to having their KEXP performance go viral, Anthony Fantano review, and international tours sold out is a pretty sudden rise. Def feels like they probs hired one of those 'control the narrative' marketing companies to flood social media with bots to blow them up
Maybe I am just being paranoid. Music is fine but completely unremarkable in any direction. If it gets kids into mathy or noise rock music as a gateway, thats cool

That’s a very cynical take. I get if the repetitiveness of the loops aren’t your thing, but “completely unremarkable” is quite the claim.

i only gave it the one spin, maybe ill jam it some more this week. it gave me like Baby's First Math Rock
|

Anyone want to take it a step further into (less conventional, more experimental) microtonal math rock The Mercury Tree would be best starting point I can think of.
