Mustaine also had throat cancer which I'm pretty sure aged his "acquired taste" vocals more than just old age. He also has some kind of condition affecting his hands but by all indications he still shreds.



Watched a video of the album release party and if you think the vocals here are rough, seeing him without studio magic trying to do Tornado of Souls is real hard. The dude is trying so hard and he just can't.

Great review, really enjoyable read, but I would argue that most metal journeys begin with Iron Maiden. At least that's how it goes with European audiences.
