A few tracks in and I'm blown away.

i wonder if being british changes your thoughts on the vocals, because they are very distinctly british and very distinctly manchunian

manchunian? hmm, thinking..
anyway, for me, the distinctly British style vox can go one of two ways and often the familiarity / parallels with everyday life doesn't lend itself to what I want from music, so the less blindingly obvious it is, the better
This is certainly one of the examples where I'd have preferred an entirely instrumental album... in fact they have already released some enjoyable instrumental material

i live somewhat close to manchester for the record
i don't think the manc accent really played a part in me strongly disliking the vocals - i just get this almost patronising tone from them despite the fact it's just surface level shallow take after surface level shallow take. it just makes my eyes roll almost by reflex.
not saying the accent plays categorically no part but if it does it's very subconscious and subtle

Had only heard this and just listened to Knocknarea, was blown away by how good it was. I think on this one they went a bit too heavy with the vocals, which are OK but the lyrics aren't particularly great, makes it a little bit cringe-y at times. Maybe they'll hit the highs of Knocknarea again if they can improve on that front

“Mancunian meaning from Manchester”
I’m familiar with the term. I just never got the sense from their sound, myself. In fact I’m kinda surprised they’re actually from Manchester lol (just checked)

Actually scrap that I knew there was a reason I didn’t like the vox. There’s a lot of faux Brit bullshit post-punk vox these days you never can quite tell (and I swear someone here put them on a pedestal as being from somewhere else, but I must be getting confused with another band).
yeah, on average the Manc accent is probably bottom tier if I look back at my likes and dislikes (music wise) lol

This band's music is so much better without vocals. The previous instrumental EP is the best thing I've heard from them. I dislike Conla's Well even more than this tbh.

Tir na nog or however it’s spelled was really cool, aye
Probably my fave thing by them thus far. Knocknarea had potential mind

Knocknarea I still have to hear.

I threw on Blind Spot just because you all brought it up and it’s definitely jarring how different it sounds from several of the LP tracks

This is probably my biggest deception of 2025. Considering dropping the rate

Yeah Knocknarea is really worth listening to, they'd already started going downhill a bit on Connla's Well with the vocals

I’d say first 2 eps > this > tir na nog, but all are really good

Yeah makes sense, Tir na nÓg is more of a freeform jam. Slaps though. This one is better in the second half I reckon

After the EP's I was expecting to floored with this one. Still like it quite a bit, but...
