First listen through, and it's pretty solid! Gonna take multiple listens to really digest all of it, but right now I'm between 3.5 and 4. Really love how experimental this album is. Really makes it sound like it's got its own identity while sprinkling in some familiar sounding riffs (ecdysis has Around the Fur vibes, cut hands has Diamond eyes vibes).

damn, for all the hyperbolic praise I heap upon that record, that's a take i can't quite agree with. Feiticiera is my favorite opener, but I'd probably put Bored, My Own Summer and Diamond Eyes above Hexagram on my deftones openers ranked list. Love the song, but my favorites on that record are deathblow, battle axe, needles & pins, good mourning beautiful, WGTB, bloody cape, minerva... I actually like the b-side to the hexagram single more than Hex tbh (Lovers, which i think was supposed to be the title track but they cut it because they essentially "rewrote" it into Battle Axe? #deftoneslore)

I unfortunately found this boring as fuck just like their last one, Stephen can’t write good riffs anymore and Chino is showing his age hard. Think I’ll leave it at that as to not upset the masses too much

My own summer def gives hexagram a run for its money as best Deftones opener, but hexagram has always been a personal fav Deftones track of mine. Top 3 at least.
Deftones are great at openers and arguably my favorite band, but tbh never found them to be strong with their closers (pink maggit, fireal and rivière withstanding). Some of their closers like Moana and this place is death feel kinda anti-climactic. Rubicon is pretty good, but as a closer, it’s not strong enough imo.

God Gore is now 10? What is time anymore? But I’ve never been huge on Gore. It’s alright. Phantom Bride, Rubicon, and Prayers/Triangles are great songs that I still jam today. Unfortunately the bulk of it is washed out and sounds kinda messy. Acid Hologram’s 2nd verse is nice. It shows that formula can work. Along with Geometric Headdress. I can typically start a Deftone’s album at the beginning and let it play, whether it be for long car rides, gym sessions, cleaning around the house, etc. But I can’t do that with Gore. I just listen to one of those top 3 then change it lol
