Aside from the movie excerpts and whatnot, the breakdown on The Final Blow with its singular sweep in the break is the most MySpace era bullshit I’ve heard in a good while. The nostalgia is v strong with this one

Seems like I should check more MySpace deathcore. Any recs that sound like this? Really enjoyed this one.

Maybe try A Black Rose Burial - An Awakening of Revenants. Reminds me of this but w sick keys and highs

as blood runs black- allegiance since this rips it off hard

Yeah this is aping Allegiance pretty hard, Allegiance is the blueprint for modern Myspace revival and idk probably just the best dxc album ever. Slaughter of the Soul with breakdowns.
For other essential of that era stuff I'd probably say The Crimson Armada - Guardians, All Shall Perish - The Price of Existence, Hester Prynne - The Goswell Divorce, and Suicide Silence - The Cleansing. You know, everything that you thought looked like shit when we were actually in that era but now you look back on it and realize it all whips ass.

Pretty sure Allegiance has a Martyr AD breakdown on it. I gotta revisit both to make sure

Other than that one breakdown, it's hard for me to call it a direct rip

Like I said they sound way more like ASP and HSB imo. I can see the comparison but a direct ripoff just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm more shocked that deathcore is being flagged for originality

Yes lol.

I base most of my "Thus Spoke Zarathustra is trying to sound like Allegiance" off the previous release, this one isn't wearing the influence on it's sleeve as much and is definitely a step lower towards ASP than ABRB

Yeah album owes a huge debt to Allegiance, first track sounds dangerously close to In Dying Days. Nazz’s deathcore list is pretty dead on rt, especially Goswell Divorce- that is one underappreciated ripper of an album. I’d also add The Boy Will Drown, Molotov Solution and Whisteria Cottage to the list- not ‘essential’ genre picks per se but still underrated

The last one I could totally see it 100%. This one is a bit more towards melo metalcore than the last one too imo.

Whisteria Cottage also played that Hester Prynne show haha what a throwback. The first Molotov Solution record and the split w WFAHM are some of the best deathcore ever made imo.
