Maybe they'll convert all of Behemoth's fanbase

yeah people focusing on anti religious lyrics when they're done in harsh vocals perplexes me
speaking from the perspective of not being religious of course. I do get it if they're uncomfortable by the themes on the cover but other than that like dude what are you doing

I can definitely hear some of the lyrics quite clearly here tho
It’s done in a style where some of it is legible. And I say that as someone who often ‘hears lyrics last’, especially within metal / heavier music

He's very understandable on this album. Lyrics are pretty clearly shit lol.

I think Row did a good job to not emphasize the lyrics too much while making the justified point of them ridiculous, in a bad way. Imo nothing is worse than seriously enjoying an extreme metal track, looking into the lyrics and they’re a total turn off.
I think it’s a little disappointing to hear a band who’s image and media presence is so staunchly anti-religious and then express it like an edgy 12 y-o first attempt at poetry.

Better than what I was expecting. Still very ordinary. When you make such good albums previously (Demigod, Evangelion and classic The Satanist) it's going to pretty much impossible to keep delivering. They just seem out of ideas at this point and have lost their creativity. The worst song on The Satanist is better than the best song on this album.

this isn't as bad as the lead single would have you believe but it is otherwise rather dull for something so... i don't know, attempting to be theatrical and anthemic? it just sounds redundant, tired and vapid. the way they keep trying to up the ante on the blasphemy just seems so pointless.
if someone told me it was actually a parody band that brought out the lead single to make fun of behemoth i'd 100% believe it.

this band sucked in 1995, they continued to suck for decades and now, 30 years later, they still, in fact, suck.

Nooooo Hype lol. I mean they suck now but they used to rule.

yeah they definitely have some good material in their catalogue
the satanist was perhaps their only good attempt at making a more accessible record. not to say their previous works were inaccessible but when compared it is easier to grasp without sacrificing too much.
they should have split after the satanist. would have been a great way to go out. i think people underestimated how instrumental their lyricist was - they clearly helped behemoth a lot with artistic direction and thematics. no idea why he isn't working with them now - i can assume that he felt he had nothing left to say when it came to behemoth. if that's the case, he was unfortunately right on the money.

“Ov Fire and the Void” still has some of my favorite metal lyrics ever; I remember about busting a nut when that music video came out. Oddly enough The Satanist never hit as hard for me as Evangelion did.

Demigod is still their clear best for me. One of my fav dm albums ever.

The first time I saw them I was in the very front and when they played “Slaves Shall Serve” everybody was just on top of each other SCREAMING it and throwing horns. It was fucking sick, this was RIGHT after Nergal beat cancer.

Slaves Shall Serve was the first Behemoth song I heard and its still my fav. Pure brutality.

yeah same - slaves shall serve was my introduction to death metal as a whole. still doesn't sound like much else out there for me. demigod is a great record, as is evangelion much for the same reason. i kinda glossed over the apostasy, idk if i should fix that.

The Apostasy is a great album. Not as good as Demigod or Evangelion but still very good.
