I spun this quite often the last weeks. ST kinda sucks, this is definitely a step in the right direction, even if it rarel sounds like Mars Volta

But drums are so useless on here. And that was always a selling point on pre hiatus TMV

Don’t get people calling s/t bad, when this is literally more of the same only slightly more adventurous in terms of experimentation lol

Nah this is way different. But yeah, the drum production is flaccid.

The Mars Volta discography is conceptual. The start is Deloused at the left peak of the first line of the V. The valley of the V is Lucro Sucio. From here, albums will become increasingly more more rock and less jazz until their final album at the peak of the right line, which will be the spiritual successor to Deloused. The V stands for Volta.

I like this theory but I'd say the bottom of the valley is Self titled and the acoustic version. Absolute rock bottom my second favorite band ever.

Seems like they have a live album coming out today. Siiiiick. I love this record and didn't get to see them on tour cause they didn't come to Europe.

Sad that they’re one of my favorite bands, and I loved this album so much, and I’m realizing I forgot it existed until this moment. Need to listen again

Kind of cool how they're approaching the live album, seems like you can vote for which versions of the songs from across the tour will end up on the final album.
