Yeah, this is BAD. I'm giving this a 2 in honor of the great memories I have of this band, and the fact that underneath the baffling production choices, there could've been a few decent tunes here. I don't get why bands self-sabotage like this.

Even if there was enough here in terms of writing that could convince me to give it a few more chances, the apalling production exhausts me halfway through the thing.

You know what

I think this actually *is* worse than Erase Me, wildly enough. At least Erase Me, as god-awful as it was, had some decent tracks. The only fully competent song on this is the outro imo

The reddit atheist lyrics on this thing are so cringe, and the fact it's coming from a bunch of dudes in their 40s just makes it even worse. These guys were never exactly wordsmiths even in their heyday but at least they didn't make me wince at the thought of a 40-something year old man watching Richard Dawkins debates for lyrical inspiration.

And yeah the production on this thing is utterly abysmal.

Spinning in Place is fucking awful. Sounds like two songs playing at once at some places.

I really hate saying this, but I feel like this release is similar to the current situation with A. Bynes. The album feels like a form of self-destruction and I'm genuinely left with so many lingering questions about the choices that were made.

Is this the first time ever Underoath has been compared to Amanda Bynes

Pretty extreme comparison lol. It's not that hard to believe they suck now, its a tale as old as time

Album isn't good but it's worlds better than Erase Me at least. Good review. Band is def dead but they deserve a little bag for how formative Chasing Safety and DTGL were.

Saw the Chasing Safety anniversary tour last year and I think it's weird how much more inspiration and vision they seem to have whenever they do an album anniversary tour or like those live full album playthroughs from the pandemic a few years ago versus when they put out post breakup albums. They need Adam D to put them through work camp conditions in the studio again to make another classic
