Obviously this review is going to have my opinion in it, but I really couldn't find anything I liked about this, the points I found that were ok I put in the review, there just weren't a whole lot.

Sweet evil Jesus, does anyone in this thread know how to properly use the word "bias?"

Let me explain it for those who don't get it. If you have an opinion, you're biased. That is the definition of bias. If you hate Metallica, you're biased. If you like Metallica, you're biased. That's how opinions work, people.

And I am sick to death of hearing you immature fans cry like children with skinned knees every time someone challenges the popular perception of Metallica. This site was designed for everybody to express an opinion, no matter how popular or unpopular it may be. If they can eloquently express themselves, there shouldn't be a problem. Jesus, some of you sound like that Sharkmenow twat in the Trivium thread.

Just because you disagree with Viking's efforts to provide a dissenting voice does not give you any business telling him to shut up or trying to tell him what he can and can't do.

God, every time I see an argument like this break out, a little more of me dies inside. This Message Edited On 10.14.06

You spent a paragraph talking about lyrics..this is Metallica not Dylan, not Springsteen...the lyrics are not the most important parts of a metal song, and besides you'd have to eat your words if we started talking about In Flames, and Lamb Of Gods vocals and lyrics. This Message Edited On 10.16.06

Lamb of God have pretty good lyrics, as for In Flames I don't know. And lyrics are important, just not to you.

Savatage have some great lyrics. As do Blind Guardian, Lost Horizon, Wuthering Heights, Nightwish, After Forever, Candlemass... Oh, what do you know! Being a metal band isn't an excuse to write bad lyrics after all!

Lyrics dont matter much in metal. When one listens to Lamb of God and In Flames (more like in flames) you cant really distinguish the lyrics anyway, but its still the music that sounds good. I find in a lot of metal the voice can be used as an instrument rather than a simple tool for lyrics

Hey look at Children of Bodom I usually cant pick out more than 10 words Alexi may say in a single song but I still love his voice I think it suits his music perfectly haha

I can understand 90% of both In Flames and Lamb of God, and lyrics are a factor when it comes to music for me. When I can't understand them I usually just go to a website to get they lyrics so I know exactly what I'm listening to.

It aggravates me to hear vocalists who say, "I'm in a metal band, so it doesn't matter how good my lyrics are." That's just an asinine excuse for mediocrity. If you're more focused on music than writing, just say so. Don't make bad excuses for it.

So when I understand you fools right, Mikael Akerfieldt spent a lot of worthless time thinking of his ace concept album, his sad and angry lyrics and the meanings behind it all.

It all makes sense now!

There are lots of metal bands that spent enough time writing their lyrics (In Flames included, how can you say their lyrics are not good), it's part of the music. Being metal is not an excuse for making bad lyrics.

How is it even possible to give Arch Enemy a 4.5, A7X a perfect 5.0, but Metallica a 1? I didn't even bother reading the review based on the fact you're obviously a) an idiot or b) clueless. Good day.

I have never heard a metal vocalist saying they don't worry about the lyrics 'cus they are in a metal band.

Not trying to sound like an ass but i honestly never did.

I worry alot about the lyrics i write for my band.

How did I miss this display of gibbering stupidity? Unfortunately, it's a little late in the game to explain to this god damn chimp why I'm right and he's wrong.
Not that it matters. You all know that in the hypothetical argument that would have developed I would have won.

We're talking more about the idiot fans who justify bad lyrics by claiming that being in a metal band is an excuse for creative mediocrity when it comes to songwriting.

ok kinda missunderstood your comment then but imo it depends on the bands style. I don't take venoms lyrics very sirously(?) 'cus i don't expect that deep lyrics from their side. But it should never be an excuse.

I like some of the content and arguments in the review but it wasn't a good review. Your "jokes" completely ruin the review. What am I suppose to think?.. "Metallica sucks....j/k...but seriously. " Because that is what I get from your review.
