"meat and potato theatrical oomph"
YES.
Allllll for that! They're untouchable in that regard, absolutely.
Second spin, yessss!

Gosh the melody that starts at 4:08 in Ex Sanguinea sounds awfully familiar. Anyone here getting the same impression too?

The COF renaissance is real.

"We wish to live deliciously" is such a silly line and I'm trying really hard to get over it.

Alright if they don't go with White Hellebor as the next single they are making a serious mistake. Can't get that chorus out of my head.

yeah as i feared i didn't like this anywhere near as much as the last three. not a bad album by any means, i just think it's pulling from the cradle era i'm least fond of.

First time doing an entire listen through of a CoF album. Two tracks left. I don’t hate it.

Some peak vampire shit right there.

starts well, wasn’t a fan of the Non Omnis / Hellbore bit, nearly reignited my interest with some of the riffs in Sanguine
unsure what to make so far, may lean into melodic solo-centric song-writing a bit too much for my liking. It almost feels tame at times

"wasn’t a fan of the Non Omnis / Hellbore bit"
This I kind of understand (although I do still like them) and
"It almost feels tame at times"
this I understand too.
The female vox aren't entirely my cup of tea, they've had singers who fitted a lot better in the past. And the album does indeed feel a little tame at times, that's what I didn't really like about Malignant Perfection when it was first released either.
Overall still enjoy this a lot though!

If it helps, I think it’s a reference to Black Phillip’s question in The VVitch
