If aarons replaced they need someone who can write lyrics in a similar vein.
What sucks about this is thst i only dived in last year and fell hard for this band because it ticks all my boxes gothic, poetic and tragic

Aaron being kicked out would be the end of the band because aaron would absolutely take legal action which would probably put the band out of commission for a long time. there's some pride related issue with both Aaron and Andrew and I've no interest in speculating which of them is wrong, I just hope it is resolved properly.

Same, its just such a mess

The band is owned by Aaron and Andrew. If they can prove he abandoned the band and is neglecting his duties to the 'company' they may be able to get rid of him. I think that's essentially what Queensryche did to their drummer.

Hopefully the issue is sorted and they work it out but im not getting my hopes up

One of the biggest reasons I could see this not going to court is that there is no money being made. It would cost more to take the band to court than he could ever stand to make from them buying him out or whatever the final decision would be. At least this way he would still get performance royalties (however minuscule that is).

Read about the band status in Blabbermouth, and well, it is a difficult situation.
If Aaron is to leave My Dying Bride permanently, I think that the band should find a new name.
Generally speaking, band started to go downhill after Hamish Glencross and Shaun Steeles left.

In the wonderful words of Poppy... I disagree. As long as there are any original members left, I don't think they should have to give up something they've worked decades on just because other members couldn't/wouldn't stick with it. That's my opinion on any band going through member changes, honestly. I would even extend that to include bands that don't have any original members left but that do have members that have put multiple album cycles of their lives into the band. Napalm Death, In Flames, and Lorna Shore come right to mind.

And Opeth would be fucked. Miks not a founding membee

Yeah, Opeth too. Exactly my point. It never makes sense to me when people say people that have sunk years of their lives into a band should change the band's name just because one (or more ) people bounce. Or in Mikael's case, it would have been him having to start from scratch just as the "Opeth" brand was first starting to gain traction. Why would he?

I just can't imagine My Dying Bride with a singer other than Stainthorpe.
Anyway, que sera, sera.

in principle i agree with you but there is a key difference between vocalist changes and other band members - it's the unfortunate side effect of vocals being one of the most expressive assets of a band. with aaron's delivery being so idiosyncratic i can't see the band continuing with another member. case by case basis of course but aaron is simply operating on a completely different artistic vibe to just about any other vocalist out there.
should the band continue with another vocalist it would mean an artistic shift that isn't very likely to resemble what people gravitate to MDB for.

Im hoping when MDB get home (i think Aus is the last leg) they drag Aaron to a band meeting and work out next steps. Because this entire blow up from the pieces we have is sounding absurdly petty for a band thats been going for 30 years
Also replacing a vocalist in a band thats been around for 30 years and seen no chsnge in vocals is a death sentence.

@Voivod, DarkNoctus, & Dreamflight:
I'm not saying that we should be expected to still like a band and have the same connection with them that we did when they had their 'classic' line-up or iconic singer or whatever the situation is with each band. I'm just saying that logically it doesn't make sense for remaining members to lose their livelihood by trying to start over with a new name... especially for a band like this that have been going for 30+ years. It's fan sentiment that drives that discussion and it's not really based on anything tangible.
Even if MDB got a vocalist that sounded nothing like Aaron and it changed the entire dynamic of the band, the members still stand to make more money, have a better label, and get better tours just based on the name recognition than if they start over and have to slap "Reincarnated Bride (featuring Andrew from My Dying Bride)" on a whole new band.... and, really, what does it actually change if the band doesn't change their name? It doesn't change anything real, it's just catering to fans' nostalgia and their personal opinion on 'legacy' and other nebulous terms.

Iron Maiden and Judas Priest didn't do too well, but Queensryche actually got more popular again. On the other hand, I bet Iron Maiden and Judas Priest still did better than they would have if they had changed their name when they got new vocalists.
