Thank you. I'm glad this got its day in the sun before the avalanche of Opeth reviews inevitably comes crashing down on the front page.

"It has kinda gotten to the point where I'd rather just jam DS than most old school (or any) DM tbh. I don't know how long this 'phase' will last but it shows no sign of relenting at this stage"
"Yeah, this is exactly how I feel about slam in general. DS just make everyone else redundant."
While i don't feel the same way at least yet, i kinda see where you guys come from, the first time i heard the first two tracks on Disposal i thought "If this is Slam, i want EVERY Slam to sound just like this, this is way too fucking sick"

This is not slam though

yeah, because real slam is generally dogshit, so everything checks out

I mean specifically Into The Soil is very Slam ish

Brutal death metal usually has breakdowns, doesn't make it slam though. Suffocation has breakdowns for example, but don't play slam.
Slam is based on breakdowns, whereas in BDM it's an "extra".

Lunatic album, agreed. Probably top 2 DS, agreed.

Suttee is hilariously slamesque, especially that intro. But yeah, Into The Soil / that half of the album in general is rather slammy (I see them as separate EPs)
if this is what fake slam is like then I'm game
been enjoying "Flesh - Flesh" recently tho so maybe there's hope out there in the beyond

Isn't Suffo like a blueprint for the whole movement? like proto Slam or something

Don't think there's consensus on the blueprint thing. Internal Bleeding are credited just as often. Afterbirth were among the first, too. Technically, it should be Uncle Slam's Weirdo Man.
Personally, I always considered Suffo pioneers, and their early albums' success has me suspecting that, yes, many actual slam bands were originally inspired by them. Doesn't make them a slam band, ofc, but I don't remember seeing you call either DS or Suffo that, so I fail to see what the fuzz is about. As Demon mentioned, Disposal has strong slam vibes.

I was in this phase after getting into Sanguinary.

Drumming is so good

the distinction is that brutal death has slams but slam is all slams.
slam is basically “what if we made an entire album out of that riff on liege of inveracity”
and slam rules, it’s usually the slam that cross-pollinates with deathcore that sucks ass.
