It's very different to their other albums, it has a large NWOBHM vibe to it. Listen to Evil Has No Boundaries, The Antichirst and Black Magic

Great Review. An underrated album that could be much better with something else in the place of "These Boots".

I like this album , for me It is more passionable from soul and heart avangardish jazzy and not in thrash style bounds than the next more produced mechanical second album.

I think this is a very average album. Megadeth did much better later on in their career. I find this to be the worst debut album of "The Big Four" and really only enjoy a couple songs on it. Mechanix is just sloppy. The title track and Rattlehead are some of my favorites.
Good review by the way.

More like the best debut album of the big four, and it also beats Bonded By Blood and The Legacy.

No way. Kill 'Em All and Show No Mercy are much better. I guess this maybe a bit better than Anthrax's a Fistful of Metal but not by much. If Mustaine was the writer of Mechanix why does his version of the song suck when compared to The Four Horsemen? There's just no comparison, speeding up the song as fast as they did ruined it and that's the biggest problem with this album. You can tell Mustaine was trying to be faster than Metallica, but faster doesn't mean better and it just sounds sloppy throughout.

Mechanix > Four Horsemen
Nope. I can't agree. Four Horsemen is like 100x better than Mechanix. Maybe if Mechanix wasn't sped up the way it was it would be better, but it sounds really sloppy on the album. Plus Metallica added that melodic part in the middle and made it an all around better song. Not to mention Four Horsemens lyrics are much more metal than those in Mechanix. Hammets solos are much better on Kill 'Em All than Mustaines on Killing is My Business, they're just more prominent. Mustaine and the other guys are good musicians and I really like Megadeths later albums, but this just isn't one of my favorites.

I love this album. Dave really showed some of his better solos here, and the riffs can be thrashy and epic while others sound like something off a Zeppelin CD. My favorite Deth album to date. Really shows that musicianship overcomes production budget. A classic.

lol Four Horsemen is good but Mechanix is much better lol. And Hammett just recycled Mustaine's much better solos for KEA anyway lol. And Dave Mustaine did in fact write the Mechanix you fool.

I have the "shatty" production quality original and the lower production quality seems to suit it. Also, I don't have to deal with the crappy, censored version of
These Boots, which is great because it's one of the better songs and shouldn't have to be censored.
