That mid section (4-5-6) is such a slog to go through everytime
The album is not bad per say, just plain average and a little bit too poppy for my liking . Cheerleader is such a banger though .

the back half of this album is starting to grow on me quite a bit. I think Porter shot himself in the foot by frontloading this with bangers cause the rest of the album is suuuper mellow and it feels like a huge drop off by the time you get to Year of the Cup. But once you accept the mellowness it’s actually kind of nice.

Great summer album. Back half has some top tunes too - Mona Lisa and Is there really no happiness are both great!

This sounds weirdly very reminiscent of recent Bring Me the Horizon.
I could easily imagine BMTH taking some of these hooks and swapping it out for existing ones on nex gen

Yeah the moment I heard Cheerleader I found it so reminiscent of newest BMTH. The second half of this I'm still really iffy on. I have to admit it's a bit too chill in the backhalf and a bit of a let down. Singles here are really great but the album tracks fall short for me.

The first four singles are really great, but yes, one or two of the other tracks are a little underwhelming. Still a really fun album though.
