morgan wallen is bad because his songs are bad, not because he makes a lot of music lol

Ok I don't think this is as good as the s/t, but still very enjoyable.

I don't really see how writing a lot of songs is inauthentic? He's the primary songwriter for all of his music, it's not like he has someone else doing them for him.
This dude loves writing and loves recording, and seems to like his music a lot. What happens when an artist thinks a lot of their work happens to be good enough to be publicly released?

This is the biggest grower of his discog for me so far. Reviewed it at a 3.5 but honestly some days it's pushing a 4.5 for me.

He's got alot of grower tracks for sure. Guys a bit of a clown though

was a bit dismissive of this feller due to my annoyance of the current country scene, but he ain’t too bad, or at least there’s far worse

He is a bit of a cornball personally but the music is very much not representative of the broader problems in country.

I'm always a bit wary most of the current crop of country artists but maybe I'll give this a spin.

@game while i do agree that he is not a culprit of the greater bastardization of the genre, i also think if it weren’t for the morgan wallens of the world he would be closer to the bottom of the barrel. generally speaking he seems like a good guy that approaches music earnestly and with humility, and for that i tip my hat. should he ever push the envelope and make something special (which i believe he can), i’ll be the first to sing his praises.
@alk same, largely from being, perhaps, a bit too engrained in the older stuff. regardless, i would advise at least giving one of his records a stab.

new album out tomorrow, 25 whopping tracks and apparently a dual release with stripped down acoustic versions

25 tracks, dude c'mon

I mean, all his stuff has been rather long as the tracklists go and this ain’t even his longest one so it’s not a red flag to me, but I do think he could do better things with a shorter tracklist + longer songs.

I'll give this a listen today. I listened through the Turnpike Troubadours albums yesterday that I hadn't heard before and it felt nice going on a country binge again.

yeah id say the same, it's enjoyable on first listen but the best tracks will pop out with a little time probably like this one did

I'm over halfway and pretty bored. He has a great voice and is clearly a good songwriter, but there's too much going on. I agree that this really suffers from having too many songs. Does he have any albums that are like 10 songs, 45 minutes? Because I bet that would be great.
edit: bumped to 3.5 because Pink Skies kicks ass.

Deann is short but it's pretty raw and his voice/songwriting wasn't too developed.
