Really nice review. I tried listening to this album (and Isis in general) a little while ago, but couldn't get into it. It's pretty different from the style I usually listen to, but for some reason there was something about the music that told me to keep it and listen to some other time. And I tried a few times, but never "got" it I guess.



So now I went through and listened to the whole album again, but not doing anything else. Just listening and focusing on the music. And I read your little descriptions of each track as I listened. And I think I'm starting to get it? I'm gonna let it sink in a bit, and listen again another time.

Of coarse this is going to bore you to tears (judging from your tastes in music). I would try In the Absense of Truth. The songs pick up alot quicker and there is way more riffing and drum patterns in the songs to hold your interest for more than 2 minutes.
