mxc is better overall imo, too many good bands to let the legions of bad stuff affect it. I’d take it over sludge

Well to be fair Botch does fit that 'thinking man's metalcore' tag. I don't remember if it was a guy from Dillinger or other metalcore band who said it but that tag suits a lot of metallic-hardcore acts because of their changing, high speed tempos combined with intricate melodies and complex songwritings. I definitely lean towads that kind of angy state inducing metal, instead of pussy metalcore like Asking Alexandria

I just like grooves and sick riffing when it comes to metallic hardcore, but post soundscapes are also very welcomed, Zao and Norma Jean are the only bands i listen to consistenly

Metalcore is super easy to clown on because everything, even the good stuff, comes from a place of angst, but yeah there are some sick bands fs, its just very funny how wide the chasm between the sick bands and the suck bands is
