the crowd killers usually get their comeuppance though. the funniest one i ever saw was at a snuffed on sight/vomit forth gig (which was like nearly 100% hardcore fans). there was this one obviously trying to start shit crowd killer going crazy throwing his arms around hitting people and just being a general ass but went a lil too hard and smashed his hand on a table behind him and broke the fuck out of it.

him and his homies walked out of the gig within like 5 minutes with their tails between their legs. very entertaining.

i just dont understand the point of crowd killing or how it came about. has this always been a thing at hardcore shows?

In good pit nobody is in control. People who aren't ready to get pushed or push people who don't wanna get pushed don't belong in there. It's also not a place to try to overwhelm people. It can all be done in friendly manner by giving potential partipiant a frienly shove. Like asking a fellow metal head to dance. People going there looking to hit somebody are lowest of them all. Getting pushed around is essential part of the fun. This is also an experience of a ex-footballer who enjoys jolly little violence.

After all these comments I wonder if the band is worth to see with 200 stabby and enforced which Im not familiar with.

[2] Enforced go hard yeah

@Mort I only started going to shows in 2007 (strict parents) but can definitely vouch for it being a thing then. I did ask an older friend once who said he couldn’t recall it too much pre-2000s but idk

i don’t remember it ever happening at any metal gigs I went to like pre 2015 but there has been a slow but steady cross pollination of hardcore and metal spaces since then it seems. i am not one of those weird nerd metalheads who is anti hardcore dancing or anything and I like a fair bit of hardcore and hardcore adjacent music, but it seems like it’s a much more prevalent thing in that scene than it ever was at metal shows.

this band and others like 200 stab wounds and frozen soul are the standard bearers of metal labels marketing to this new demographic shift, so you can really track their rise in popularity along with the two scenes mixing with each other.

Hype I've seen footage from some Snuffed On Sight shows and it looks like a bunch of morons running around hitting each other in the face. So fucking stupid to me lmao.

I remember seeing bands like Desolated and Nasty in the early 2010s and it was actually ridiculous. Basically Fight Club with a soundtrack

Yeah they were pretty notorious for it. The attitude amongst fans always seemed to be about how violent the shows were rather than how good the music was, which is so bizarre to me

https://youtu.be/HEeYAznI4yo?si=olwrmziGD6VDU5np Still hilarious after all these years

I mean, Randy Blythe would organize a Wall of Death during the New American Gospel/Palaces era. A stadium of people split in half and then encouraged to run full force into one another.

I've enjoyed the occasional circle pit, but I'm not down with joining a pit just to wantonly beat the shit out of others. There still needs to be some comradery where folks are looking out for one another rather than escalate shit into brawls.
