Liquid Jesus is still one of my favorite tracks of the year. Wish these guys were getting more attention

Top 20 for me so far which is very good going.
‘Ottessa’/‘Liquid Jesus’/‘Evil has a Babyface’ is probably my favourite three song run of the year though.

Ok, if this was a streamlined 45 minutes this might have been my AOTY
Bumped again…has baby stepped all the way from a 3 to a 4.5, impressive
Jesus is a cunt who makes you drink his blood indeed

yeah, circa 40 minutes and we're talking gold right here
I mean it's still one of my faves from this year because I dunno, guess I'm not feeling 2024 very much

Getting into the concept of this being a sort of extra depraved ‘Murder Ballads’ has helped, but mainly some choice lyrics and he knows how to deliver them
‘Ottessa’ prob my song of the year so far, the section ‘so I have my problems with the law what about ‘em…them men with guns will just blow your ass away’ is so so great. Great stuff.

The delivery is absolutely on point. I imagine the concepts and lyricism in isolation would come across as rather cack-handed (breathed?) in the wrong hands (mouth?)

Definitely, it's a risky album and early on I wasn't sure if they'd landed the jump.
It's still a bit much across this run time but quite simply the album contains six of my favourite 30 songs this year I'd imagine.
If 'Ottessa' is number one then again I'd say 'Liquid Jesus' would be top five and a few others not far behind that. Definitely some filler on Side B but nothing that jolts you out of their world building.

Yeah the lyrics on this this thing are some of the most visceral and compelling takes on violence I have heard put to tape. Really adds the creepy vibe even when the synths are airy and bright

god damn, I'm currently listening because of the chat pile discussion and boy, that is something truly refreshing. kinda soothing but in a creepy way, great stuff

This album taught me the phrase "wet him up". It seems so innocuous but is a really gnarly descriptor.

Album is a 4.0 based on the lyrics alone. Might 5 this by the end of the year, we will see

Wonder if it still hits the same

it's an easy top 5 for me, nothing else quite like it out there
takes the griminess of daughters and blends it with the cure
