winter thrice and true north are fantastic - this one is great if you ignore nordic anthem but even then not quite as good. in saying that they have a super specific style so i can't be too mad at them for sticking to their guns.



this one does end a bit anticlimatically compared to 'voices' on true north which is stunningly beautiful

This one just feels like them going through the motions imo. Lacks pretty much all of the atmospheric magic of most of their previous albums.

honestly i'm okay with them going through the motions given the amount of talent in this band, not to mention nobody sounding a thing like them. i will concede it doesn't have the same compelling atmosphere as the last two records though and it's definitely the weaker of the three. i'm somewhere between a 3 and a 3.5 - leaning more towards 3.5 right now since i'm on a big borknagar kick lol.

First half of this band's discog is where it's at but they've got some good stuff in their later works too
