realizing now that i do not like the lyrics of this album very much a lot of the time. why are there so many songs about car chases, and why are they all like the slowest slowest songs to do that in lmao
feel like on here hes trying to introduce a lot of pop lyrical tropes into his overly wordy style, which would prob work better if these songs had any pulse to them but the way that gels with this very reserved presentation (and also the extremely by the numbers vocal writing) feels really awkward. like he's simultaneously not picking the right tropes to benefit his specific style while also trying to sell this record on "vulnerability" so its a real shame that it ends up making the writing more faceless and stock

ngl for an album im this underwhelmed by i am jamming it kind of a lot lol, but it's not growing on me literally at all so :woe:
think the slowest slowest slowest songs (dust ofc but tomato red and death confetti too) have been surprisingly proving the most enduring for me, but maybe thats just because jesse's voice is like my anti anxiety med. the stuff that sits in between vibes still feels so half assed and non committal to me though
