Great record, just a bit rushed. The hate this gets is crazy, this is better than Digimortal

You've got to look at it from the perspective of the band getting back together and releasing Archetype, which for all of its faults, is still a decent record. Your favourite band gets back together minus a core member, who was divisive amongst other things, but still wholly integral to the band's unique sound, and puts out a relatively solid album that essentially picks up from where they left off without really skipping a beat. So the stage is set for the next record, which when released, ends up not even sounding like a FF record, and comes with a handful of covers to pad out the runtime. So that's where the bulk of the hate stems from.
Oh, and the fact that it's kind of horrible across the board certainly doesn't help ;)

can we at least agree Moment Of impact is a banger
|

It is. It's also a painful indicator of what the album could've been as well

What was your main issue with Archetype? I really love that album, it got me into heavier music as a teen
|
| |
I don't have an issue with it at all. It's a solid release and Wolbers handles the pressure of filling the big man's shoes nicely. Production is a bit skeletal in parts, and some of the riffs are a little old hat but it's damn solid. 'Drones' still sticks in my head all these years later

Drones is sick, Slave Labour and Bite The Hand also stuck with me quite a bit.
I got to see FF at a massive festival in Montreal towards the end with Burton and I remember being so underwhelmed. His screams were okay but he could not sing to save his life, every chorus was off-key and he looked bored.
