I actually think the second half holds up just as well. The only thing I don't know is how the melodies will hold up over time (very little here is "catchy" in the way that, say, Midnight City or Graveyard Girl are). But otherwise this is atmospherically/aesthetically my favorite M83

For me this album sits in a place between Hurry Up and Digital Shades V2. It’s more structured than DSV2, but also has a lot of those soundtrack-ish elements as well. As a whole I already prefer this to Junk (and I like Junk) because it’s just more cohesive.

Not just from the cover art and fonts used, but also from the instrumentation, I get a real sense of John Carpenter music from this album - which for me is great because I love that stuff. Some high peaks on this, but also some meandering spots as well. I find myself noticing new sections of songs that stand out to me on almost every subsequent listen. Definitely an album you need to listen to multiple times to fully take in. This is an album I’m sure I’ll revisit plenty over the course of the year.
