I do not understand the appeal of djent

As someone who’s never had an issue with Spencer’s vocals in the past, I’m having a really hard time enjoying this because of him. I don’t think he’s bad at all, just seems like he’s smothering the music

That, and I think these are probably the weakest melodies he's ever put out. I'm a huge fan of his voice but the vast majority of his material here does nothing for me.

dude honestly this album tops P4 for me, like I'm just gonna come out and say it, many moments here make me really proud of this band

I'm starting to really like this. Wax Wings definitely one of my favourite Periphery songs. Might need to reevaluate my rating

debut remains the band's best work

im always a bit taken aback by how polarising this band seems to be. some people seem to really hate them with a passion that feels un-warranted.
personally i really like Spencer's cleans and think they're one of the bands strengths, but his harsh vox are absolutely awful. generally the bands weakest stuff for me if when they try to go heavy, and thats what we get most of on this record, which is unfortunate considering P4 was their best to date. this feels like they are pushing out into the extremes of different directions without much focus or discipline. then again I liked P3 which a lot of people here seem to hate.

You aren?t the first person to leave me stuffed in a trash can I am not the first person you have stuffed in the trash, wow
Band is hardly more than a 3 for me. Its cool that kids dig it. lol at the album title, makes them an internet forum band.

People really in here acting like they've never read a Johnny review before. Everything he's ever written is dripping with the pretentious assertion that his particular opinion is the objective truth. It's arguably the entire reason that his writing style is compelling.
The 1.5 is extremely harsh, but I doubt Johnny has given any Periphery release higher than a 2.5. On the Johnny Periphery scale a 1.5 is like a 3.
I actually enjoyed Periphery 1, 2, and 4. So I'll probably like this.

Periphery rating charts are always interesting to look at. This is the most Periphery they've ever Periphery'd and I for one love it. Wax Wings may end up dethroning Luck as a Constant as my fave song by them. Not a fan of the tacked on interludes, they served a purpose on P3 with Lune and Juggernaut because of the themes but here they are so long-winded and add nothing. I'd probably rank their albums;
Juggernaut
P4
P5
P2
P1
P3

I'm happy as long as we can all agree that The Gods Must Be Crazy should be stricken from our collective memory.

Review is a bit harsh but I'm going to assume the bloated first part is a reflection of this albums bloated three first tracks.

Ok this review is hilarious lmao. Can't wait to people get back here in 2 years and go "this didnt age well"
Finally found time to listen to it today. Honestly not sure yet where I'll put it but shaping around 4 so far. Decent instrumentation and melodies, like how it's slightly more vocs led. So far getting the impression that while highlights on previous albums were better this one is more cohesive as a whole package

That poppy part on Atropos turns me off, other than that, solid song
