It's a really solid listen if you're in a Gothenburg mood and don't want to listen to old In Flames for the 99th time

This is actually one of the best melodeath releases in a very long time. All melodeath is derivative to a certain degree nowadays, yet this one still manages to keep your attention thoroughly, not to mention the level of epic riffing here is top quality. It's been years since a melodeath album caught my attention like this one

we're about to get another 90s Gothenburg throwback with Upon Stone's debut album next Friday. they have a really solid EP that brings the At the Gates riffz ahrd but with a bit more grit:

I'll probably give it a listen whenever it comes out. Hoping it'll be something slightly more adventurous than this.

Carl's review got me to revisit this, and yeah I really think I rushed this review lmao. Overall I think it's okay, but it certainly could've been done better and might be one of my least favorite reviews so far that isn't my first. And yeah, while this album is still fairly good, giving it a 4.5 seems a bit much now.

Jam the new Ardent Nova from last year. Best melodeath I've heard in a long time. Also new Dark Oath.
