I was expecting to be blown away by the Pain Remains trilogy and really wasn't. This is very good overall, but I think Lorna is having to rediscover themselves after everything they've been through and it shows.

Haha I have no idea how to rate this.
It could be a 4+ once I get my head around it, there’s definitely some cool stuff and I do enjoy Will’s vocals.
Was just listening to Into The Earth on second spin and about halfway through Willie’s avatar synced up perfectly with the song 🤣

Soulless Existence sounds like what modern Cradle of Filth is without Dani and I mean that as a huge compliment

First track is so good

Hmm still not getting much of the Dimmu vibe except maybe the orchestral arrangements but it feels like quite a stretch. the shimmery solos give a fallujah vibe that i do enjoy a lot though. color me impressed.

This album fucking rules
It's making up for the pain I just suffered watching Halloween Ends

After a first full listen, this is as good as I thought it would be, but still need to listen to it on my headphones to give a proper rating. Soulless Existence is insane and might be my favorite song on the album.
"I think a lot of people that thought they would/should like this are maybe just a little overwhelmed on their first few listens"
There is so much going on here that I see how people can think it is just a wall of sound.

The sudden slower tempo breakdowns all sound the exact same, what a shame. I wish these guys were better at writing actual heavy riffs. Also the constant blast beats are so annoying.
That being said this rules quite a bit. These guys know to write killer melodies and the arrangements are mostly excellent. Also Will Ramos is obviously excellent.

Yeah, I know it's be said a dozen times already but Will is an absolute monster on this, easily my favorite part of the album. The way he can switch from a high-pitched banshee screech to a huge, low-pitched gutteral growl on the same fucking note is just nuts.
This is like a 3.7, pushing 3.8 for me but I'm going conservative with my rating for now. I rarely change them but when I do they're more likely to go up than down.

The vocalist is incredible but I struggle to give this more than an average rating.

Will really deserves to be in a band that know how to write songs

At one point someone in this band bought an epic orchestra vst and decided they really needed value for their investment

Glad to see this getting traction in the quasi-mainstream. It's easy to forget it's stuff like deathcore and nu metal that gets people into the more "sophisticated" stuff us sputnikers spooge over lol

I do respect the bands getting into the mainstream, since more people are able to listen to the music and to give it a chance for once.
But hopefully the next Lorna Shore album should have more bangers

I'm really happy that they broke through into the mainstream(ish). They seem like good dudes and they're insanely talented and hardworking. I just wish they had more than specifically one mood and sound on this record.

I enjoyed this overall. The breakdowns are the weakest part of this band. Not sure if they do it for youtube views but the best parts of this album do not involve stopping the song and trying to drop the heaviest most brutal breakdown ever heard. This is where Shadow of Intent is still top of the genre, they are able to mix multiple styles of metal, and their albums flow seemlessly.
