Spiritual Beggars is a '70s hard n' heavy rock outfit, that started releasing albums in the '90s.

Great band overall, much better than Arch Enemy, when all analogies are accounted for.

I can't say I'm a fan of 70s music, but I'll give it a shot just to cover my Michael Amott bases.

saw them live last night along with in flames and soilwork and i swear all 3 bands were trying to have the worst set list possible. they played basically all the singles from this, i think the only two songs from before the alissa era were nemesis and my apocalypse

Makes sense, I'd imagine the only people that still care about this band are more than likely fans of their newer material with some Angela-era stuff here and there, why bother playing anything else?

Damn, I was actually thinking of going to that show in Gothenburg but if their setlist is shit I probably won't bother. I know In Flames's set is most likely gonna be bad but I thought the other bands were gonna be different...

i was mostly surprised there was nothing from anthems of rebellion or rise of the tyrant, which are definitely a lot less toothless than the alissa era stuff and contain some of their most popular songs

also in flames and soilwork were definitely emphasising their mid 2000s material so really arch enemy felt like the odd ones out. disappointing cus i saw them live in 2011 at sonisphere and they were pretty legit back then as a live act. performances were still good yesterday in fairness, especially joey concepcion since he was note for note perfect on some of nick cordle and jeff loomis's solos

Just solid melodeath, yeah it's very overproduced but I can tolerate it

It's too long but some of the tracks hit like a bulldozer. First two songs specifically.

Which is unfortunate when most of the people that are fans of this band don't even know those albums exist or outright dislike them because they're not sung by Angela and aren't simply used to Johan's vocals. I'm always of the opinion that Johan was a fine vocalist and actually had a unique take on vocals in the genre at the time before he went more into the traditional growling style on Burning Bridges.

I bet like 90% of the fanbase don't even know they ever had a male vocalist
