Alissa's talent is used slightly more, But Loomis is still criminally underused. They could be so much better if they tapped the talent of all band members.Alissa has more to give and Loomis even more.
The new record is better than the previous, but it gets old pretty quick.

Making this my first-ever Arch Enemy album. Let's see how it goes.
"She's the one that stuck a camera down the Lorna Shore vocalist's throat. That was cool."
That video sounds so fascinating but I'm too icked out to watch it.

That was pretty alright. In the Eye of the Storm and House of Mirrors were pleasant surprises. Exiled from Earth is probably my favorite because I'm a sucker for that time signature.

Never thought I'd see the day when a new Arch Enemy release is better than the new Soilwork, but here we are...

Hey, at least his 4.5 was for Stigmata. If it was for War Eternal or Will to Power, I'd be pretty concerned

Any Arch Enemy 4.5 after AoR is very questionable tbh

"This is too fun for the elite, bird."
I don't get how a song like Spreading Black Wings is anywhere close to fun, honestly.

Possibly any 4, tbh. Doomsday Machine is a fun album, but I couldn't see myself giving it anything above a 3.5

"Dude has an Arch Enemy album 4.5’d yet 1.5’d this one. Explain that one. Explain it resident bird."
Some of this band's early material has lost its luster a bit but Stigmata and Burning Bridges are more thoughtful than the majority of stuff in this vein of melodeath.

stigmata has horrendous vocals. but casa loves terrible vocal performances and tones so thats par for the course.

"stigmata has horrendous vocals."
lol, I was about to say the same thing. No offense to Liiva, but he was definitely the member holding the band back during that era

With that said, his performance on Burning Bridges was a lot better. He really brought a lot more variety in his vocals there, as opposed to the monotonous barking on the first two albums

"Yeah but to rate this band so low now damn tell me where they hurt you"
After Wages, they just get tremendously boring and it's like they hardly even try to write interesting riffs or even just rhythms a lot of the time. Again, songs like Spreading Black Wings or One Last Time or Handshake With Hell registering as fun for some of you baffles me due to how one-dimensional or even just underwritten they are.
I don't really mind Liiva because a lot of his contemporaries weren't exactly any more evocative than he was at the end of the day and the problem is that if he was holding them back, then everyone just kind of inexplicably gave up in the songwriting department not long after he left.

well at least you're consistent with your criticism, always the same tune about originality or one-dimensionality or whatever.
