I'm torn between a 2.5 and a 3, nothing stands out but I still like a chunk of songs. The thing is tho is that those songs I like aren't anything special lol, just dgd on auto pilot again

Also I just realized... no heavy Secret Band esque jam i.e. Shark Dad, Petting Zoo, The Rattler, Say Hi?

Yup 3 it is.

At this point they could just add Wells to Secret Band and make DGD their soulless corporate job that pays the bills.

An instrumental version of this would probably be a 3, Matt and Tim really did great.

the more i listen to this the more i like it minus a few songs ughh i wanna join the hate train but even in their most formulaic there's still enough to draw me in either cuz there is some semblance of a good idea or because it's just good dgd.

songs i def like: swallowed by eternity, current events, holy ghost spirit, pray to god for your mother, synergy, back on deck, long nights in jail, for the jeers, ember, one man's cringe

cream of the crop and feels bad man are kinda borderline there

two secret weapons is cringe af at the beginning but it's growing on me and i hate that. rest is meh/boring

Odd how most people praising this with no criticism whatsoever on Sput are accounts made in the last two months or so, I wonder..

I’m glad to see people agreeing with me that this album shows they’re getting stale, I thought I might be the only one. It just feel so by the numbers, they’re falling into the same trap as Breaking Benjamin. They feel like they don’t need to reinvent the wheel cos if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But they fail to see what made them garner such popularity to begin with, which was their wild experimentation. Even earlier Tilian albums had more personality, IG is their best album in my opinion. Largely due to nostalgia, but it has a distinct sound. Mothership is where things began to sink

They need to go back to their roots and embrace the DBM sound. They’re stuck in this pop rut with rapist Tilian.
