I used to love TOCS when I was a teen. Underoath got me into metal/heavy music and that album has a lot to blame for that. Then of course I went during my early 20s feeling ashamed of liking screamo music forgetting about that album and the band itself. Now I'm rediscovering both and TOCS definitely sends me the feels... It's one of the most emotional albums I've ever heard. I don't care if it's teen problems and shit like that, the music is like an open heart and I love it for that. The thing is I really never liked emo or screamo, but I always really loved Underoath, there is something in their music that hits home. Spencer screams mixed with Aaron's cleans always moved me. The guitar work is not impressive but it fits the music perfectly. It's basically shoegaze and post-hardcore riffing with some metalcore stuff here and there.

tbf I barely remember that album outside of When the Sun Sleeps. It always felt like an album from a band that had potential but was still trying to figure out how to use it. The screams are really quite bad, and there's like no processing on them whatsoever

For me

DTGL = LITSOS > Disambiguation > TOCS = TCOT > COTP > the rest

But as long as the top three are the top three I can't be too mad

They're not really worth listening to Jay. I could maybe see still liking COTP if it was one of my first metalcore albums ever when I was 13. But it has aged liked a fine milk

True. Dallas has some mean lows in that song

And yeah I have no desire to visit either. Especially after reading the lyrics "YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THE BABY BEFORE YOU HAD SEEEEEEEEXXX"
