Aes just dropped a video for All the Smartest People, drawn and animated by the man himself!
He said "Decided to draw 1,500 selfies and make it into a video. The process made my eyes hurt, and now your eyes can hurt too." lol
It's amazing!

Video is super dope! Honestly, though, I’ve never liked that song much - it has some funny moments but a lot of it does not stick or land at all with me in the way that other similarly-loose tracks of his (dog at the door / 1 to 10) do.

I don't think it's meant to be humorous the same way as Dog at the Door or 1 to 10. Those are both basically joke tracks. All the Smartest People is a lot more 'real.'

Dope video [3]
I definitely feel like our titular smart person[s] is a little far gone, and that opening definitely makes me laugh every time, and back pain is NOT A JOKE
but i feel u

Far gone or just creative? It is ‘conscious’ hip-hop after all. And it’s Aesop, for that matter too lol
And yeah, that interaction at the beginning is kinda funny, but that’s just setting the scene. Overall it’s not a humorous track. You can tell right away by the tone.

Content-wise it’s not humorous, but the cadence is soooooo conversational and loose and it’s like every other line is a bit of levity. It’s not necessarily as light hearted as the other two I mentioned, but I think it is definitely the same “type” of song I guess. I just listened to this record again this morning when I woke up, so thanks for the bump by posting the vid! Cool project all the way through - all the smartest people probably my least fav, ledgerdemain, abandoned malls, and the ST are probably my favs.

Ah, I see what you’re saying. Yeah, there’s def some levity there. Same “type” of song, yeah.
Hey, no problem! I put it up here right after watching it haha, first thing I thought of. Glad folks are diggin it.
Abandoned Malls and The Sea (I assume that’s what you mean by the ST?) are among my favs as well!

Whoops - for some reason I have internalized the first single (jazz hands) as the title for this record.......

Keep coming back to this. Some amazing cuts here. Abandoned Malls is one of his best tracks mood-wise. Cool project - want more...

Man this album doesn’t even have 100 ratings yet smh
Came so soon after SWFG too

Yeah, dude. SWFG has a little bit more thematic consistency, so I'm wondering if some of his concepts and musings that didn't fit the vibe of that made it over to this. This has been my on-repeat aes record as of late.

Good point, that could be
Blockhead remaster of SWFG when??
