Not feeling this on first listen. Seems like the band keeps getting worse

So no one feels the need to mention this is a concept album or go into the lyrics?

I think this is better than Ultra Mono, it remains to be seen if it's something I'll actually stick with but there's certainly material here that isn't entirely obnoxious.

Agreed

Last two tracks are kinda meh, could live without them.
Still becoming one of my favorite releases of the year. Has a lot of replay value.

love "The End" tbh, but hey I second that replay value remark

yea The End is one of my favourite cuts really

yep a real highlight

Hmm maybe I need to spend some more time with it then. The first 10 (full) tracks are always on repeat

Tracks 1-8 and The End should have been the edit here - nothing is lost by cutting tracks 9-13
The End and The Wheel are the top two for me.
The End has the best lyric ‘strong like an ox…eyes like a hawk…acts like a prick’

Progress is great but apart from that, yeah basically

Progress is an ACCEPTABLE effort in that genre but I wouldn’t miss it

This direction reminds me a little of the second Fontaines DC album

This is cool but a lot of tracks don't offer a whole lot that their previous albums didn't. The only track that's really struck me so far is beachland ballroom, sounds nothing like anything else they've put out yet it still slots into their very particular thang beautifully
I'm guessing it'll settle around a 3.5, but ima give it a couple chances to grow cuz I like these fuckers

Car Crash and Ballroom both have superior second halves - they sort of save the day in both cases, never totally won over at the half way point when listening to either

these guys might be the worst band of the past decade. they are consistently mediocre.

Gave this a couple spins, it’s a bit better than Ultra Mono for sure but still not digging it too much on the whole. To an extent their particular style may just not be my thing even if I tend to like adjacent stuff. Vocal delivery is often a bit too shout-y for me. I dig the more melodic stuff and the stuff that deviates from their previous styles more.
There’s also something with the production/mixing here that’s putting me off. Everything feels much flatter and drier than I feel it ought, I feel like the drums especially lack the punch I feel they should have.
