I like the sound on this more than anything else I’ve heard from them. Some really beautiful moments all over this thing

"By far, the record’s more crippling features are built around The Work’s lack of flow, general cohesive ineptitude and a terrible mixing that fails to cover up the numerous moments of lack-lustre musicianship."

Thanks for putting my feelings into words. I still think this is good enough cuz proggy shit is my guilty pleasure but this compared to their last album just lacks so much character it's depressing.

"Lorded as a behemoth of technical death metal" should be "Lauded" but other than that, excellent review.

a majority of the songs slap pretty hard, it's the lack of sensible flow that make it a pretty lame package.

both towers still suck regardless

Tbh lorded kind of makes sense in this context, as lording something means to bestow it the title of lord. Still, lauded might make a touch more sense.

No, "lord" as a transitive verb is similar to "knight", and you aren't knighting anything but a person. "Lauded" is correct.

Interesting, words are fun though aren’t they? I can see where the correction makes sense, but I was actually using lorded as a past participle (verb). I get if this bothers people but hopefully it’s minor enough to be overlooked? Or at least see the relaxing of shrugged shoulders idk.

This album is a guilty pleasure. It has so many weak moments and the mix/production is actually awful, and yet I can't stop spinning it for some reason.

lauded and lorded are both past participles so the contention is moot
ever wonder how weird it is that all past participles in english are passive voice, after latin?
