Jesus do I have to come out of retirement and write the first real positive review for this. Would be a nice follow up to my terrible Colors review haha.

I respect your take on the album, but to my ears at least, I think that it's the most cohesive and most thrilling record that they've put out since the original, possibly surpassing it. The second half is the strongest part of the album too.

Also, did you mean to put dardnest? Or darnedest? Or even darndest lol. Either way I think it’s misspelled like Carolinians was mentioned also

Completely agree with the last two paragraphs here, I just think I enjoyed it more than you. This has the potential to grow but it’s def too long, good parts buried in muck, etc

It feels so much more naturally when they just let themselves be fucking heavy like fuck. Its a shame I'm really not feeling Tommy's clean vocals anymore but his voice been through some shit so that aspect is forgiveable. Instrumentally though, its pretty great yeah.

Anyone else surprised at the average for Alaska, while sitting on the second highest votes for the band. A 4.1 is impressive, especially for an album of theirs that has seemed to wane in its luster compared to some of their latter output.

I'm thinking this album surpasses Parallax II. Any weaknesses in songwriting, or bloated runtime that is present on P2 to an equal degree, is actually handled a little more tastefully and realigned slightly in an overall better way here.

If it's the legal title, the spelling can't change to Colours right? Genuinely curious

Alaska has aged pretty well for me. I feel like it has a pretty distinct sound between what comes before and after.

Alaska aged the best

P2 and Coma aged the worst, probably because their sound primarily hinges on DT's cheesy lameness cranked up to 11 with some (or lots of) genericore sprinkled on top
