It's more delayed reflection on the level of fame that Pure Heroine brought her. Melodrama had her too struck by a breakup to process it at that stage. I think she would have always preferred a modest level of fame so she can focus on her artistry and live a private life. On some level, this album might be an intentional deflation of her fanbase so she can live with a more comfortable level of attention.

Incredibly ironic to see Lorde talk so much game about not wanting to be in the spotlight and not wanting to seek attention then making the cover art a picture of her ass.

Reading through this thread and I’m not surprised at all to see desperate coomers trying to defend a literal creep shot being used as the cover art. Something tells me they’ve taken a few pictures like this themselves. The cover art is mid end of story.
