I've enjoyed this more than anything that they've done since New Brigade honestly.

Album is bangin...mind you, I'm a newer Iceage fan but love all 5 of their records. I can see someone feeling like this is neutered compared to previous records but they've been trending this way and their songwriting chops are top notch no matter what genre they're dabbling in.

I truly think The Holding Hand is up there with their best songs. Gold City is also beautiful and simple in its melodies.. This review is accurate in many ways, I just don't think I was quite as put off by the flaws of this. But I was obsessed with this band in college so I'm probably biased. This does smack of running out of cool ideas imo, but you could also feel them going in this direction on Beyondless.

I miss the propulsive punk energy they'd had. Now they're more of just a rock band that used to play punk. Really want them to just strike a sort of balance between You're Nothing and Plowing Into the Field of Love, I think that'd be a perfect sound. That'd be too exciting though, they'll never go for it lol.

A 1.5 review for this album is hilarious. Oh, Sputnik

The fact nobody cared enough to give it a positive review is also quite humorous.

Mind you, I'd be annoyed if, say, Protomartyr, started slowing things way back and leaning into rock tropes they've only hinted at for a whole record. I still dig this album, and it could be because I was such a late arrival. Either way, not a 1.5 in any reality

You might be one of the few people on Earth that has thought about this album since it came out.

I'm still thinking about it Sandwich. Could be though, to be fair, because of my recent obsessed foray into a band like Fontaines DC (who are probably better) that has seen me dust off some of these post-punkrock bands that I love
