Sowing, what do you think of the first record compared to this?

I really like their debut (and reviewed it not all that long ago!). It's more down to earth than this; the country/Americana is more tangible and their psychedelic atmospheres slightly less so. It's also pretty strong across the board but aside from "Maybe I'm Immune", the melodies here are quite a bit more memorable. I'd definitely check the first record if you enjoyed this one, but Antlers in Velvet is the higher priority.

I just see that their debut is on CD, and I wish this was too. Sounds like a good album to drive to, and I don't have a record player in the car.

Crazy enough, I don't really like the first record. This one I can't get enough of.

I wish it came out on CD too because my vinyl player is broken currently. Luckily I have a USB port in my car so I can just play the files, but I'd still love to own this on CD (which is admittedly a dying format - the band is probably smart for releasing it on vinyl and digital/streaming platforms only).

Yeah @garth, this one is better and there's no comparison.
@scoot - yeah, this does that lol. It's gotten to the point of obsession with me. I'm playing this in the background whenever possible and devoting at least one dedicated/focused listen per day. It's showing no signs of wearing off or losing my interest and every single listen reveals a new thing I love about the album.

Does this remind anyone of Sea Change by Beck?

I don't know but I guess I need to go listen to Sea Change for the first time
Anything that sounds like this is going to be my jam

I think you'll enjoy Sea Change. It's personally my favorite Beck and if you've heard his early work like Mellow Gold or Odelay, it's way different - dreamy/psych, folk/country with dope orchestral elements. Highly recommend it

That sounds like everything I've ever wanted, haha. I've heard some more recent Beck and it was hit or miss.

Sea Change is best Beck [2]. Right on, hope you enjoy it! Yeah recent Beck is meh. I haven't genuinely enjoyed Beck's music in like 15 years and still can't believe he won Grammy's 2014 Album of the Year (granted, none of the other nominees were very good).

Hmmm! Prog has admittedly never been my thing. Could never really get into Pink Floyd outside of respecting what they do and being a simp for “Wish You Were Here”. With all that said, the opening track is my least favorite just because I, admittedly, just don’t quite “get it”. The like intentional meandering has never been able to grip me. With that said, the rest of it is onto something super special. Especially love “Faint Repeater” right now. Will continue spinning it and see what happens!

I'm particularly interested in your thoughts Doof.
Faint Repeater is my favorite too dmathias. Can't resist those backing vocals or that simple, stunning solo.
