I enjoyed a fair amount of the remixes. Some of em weren't too great but lord, the remix of Pink Maggit was amazing. Easily my favorite Deftones song, and Squarepusher did it complete justice. Brilliant remix.

I hated knife prty remix at first but seems like one of the best. I don't know how to rate this thing... awful to my ears... zero interest IMO.

@oct, just saw your comment

you can imagine as close to “guessing” the “remixers” “correctly” with enough clicks on the internet for XX amount of time, and some people don’t listen to electronic music and rag on Tourist for changing “Change” into a “deadmau5” song cuz it’s too much of a change for them somewhere else on the net. I for one didn’t think Squarepusher was gonna go that hard. Did you?

Lot of people assumed the mixes would’ve been more true to source, and you assumed more out of this for you to consider it safe and predictable. Few others also remembered this remix album idea floating for years and probably didn’t expect shit that didn’t riff cuz they don’t, idk, normally listen to remixes.

I didn’t say this is pushing boundaries, but it def pushed buttons. Now, did you expect this, these batch of artists, the direction? I’m not sure what you’re asking. I could’ve expected literally anyone else to remix this shit.

about your second para there, I was quoting the words you used. on one hand it’s nice that for an amount of dedicated time of learning musical branches, other people probably wouldn’t be familiar with lot of the remixers. I for one never cared for purity ring, wasn’t familiar with Salva or Tourist, etc.

Skimming a few of these now, digital bath was garbage as you mentioned, blanck mass was pretty disappointing, the street carp one is pretty decent. only one of the three I’ve heard so far that captures the right atmosphere
