So that is true? I was curious about that since he is singing during parts that would be really difficult to perform drumming while singing.

That's why more than likely, guess they wanted to step up the drumming a bit, so they use a hired gun for live performances.

it's not only the music, which is honestly not very good, it's also their working philosophy, thinking process, etc, etc. Go read that Revolver interview they did recently you'll see what i mean.

On the other hand I do admire they are at least honest about it and incredibly persistent.

Just watched "Swallowing The Rabbit Whole" and wow... I actually like this band and I am now less interested in seeing them live with this change.
He tore it up onstage, but it was more interesting when he was drumming and doing vox. His vocals aren't strong enough to be a centerpiece.

That's fair and I understand that, but by becoming the frontman, he's drawing more attention to himself and his voice which isn't as strong live than on record.

One of the biggest things they have going for them IS their live performances, so if he felt his vocals would've suffered more by playing both roles for their live shows, then I can understand the decision to just be the frontman for the live shows. From what I can tell, he's also acting as hypeman (which, is no consolation) which gives off the sincerity of it more when interacting with crowd VS. being behind a drumset. Just my thoughts on it is all, and not to mention this part: "he's drawing more attention to himself and his voice which isn't as strong live than on record." I can't jive with that too much, given the fact that there are PLENTY of frontmen/frontwomen whose sole job is strictly vocal duties who are also not up to par or just straight up terrible live.

ikr
but the change from drums to frontman is good I think, it kinda pissed me off during live performances. And I gotta admit that the new songs are way better live than the studio version.

these guys would be sick if they dropped the choppy electronic bullshit and went for the dicks out riffs instead
|

I think I will still listen to it since it sounds pretty good on their live stream show

I am gonna give it a shot tomorrow and probably regret it.

It's not horrible, but I've also enjoyed every release of theirs until this point.
