Generic djenty prog. I've done my best to explain that. Not sure what further commentary I can provide. Sorry that I have upset you.

I don't hear the extent of what Steak is hearing.

in support of Calc's description, let's just take Abandoned as an example. the only part of that song where chugging is actually prominent is the section where the erhu kicks in, other than that it's all mid-high leads/groove
the title track has some chugging in the chorus but again, what's actually driving the songwriting there is the electronic tweedle-dees and high-end
while we can all disagree on the pros and cons of this album i'm surprised people are so insistent on pigeonholing it as a very specific kind of djent when it really isn't; it can still be perceived as generic, of course, but i just don't see why it has to be for *those* reasons (i.e. album is too chuggy, is trying to be heavier than it is when it isn't actually that reliant on being heavy)

I mentioned that the instruments lacked punch, including climactic moments. I don't think the restraint helps their sound.

my point was that there wasn't any more punch necessary, their sound wasn't so reliant on it anyway
if not restraint, then what should this band do?

Most likely move towards a different style that doesn't inherently limit them.

This is such a dumb argument, just say you don’t like anything that sounds like djent nowadays and move along

Glad my entire review is dumb, appreciate it. Mind moving along yourself?

anything that sounds like djent nowadays
Kinda a loose argument? I mean Shuggah are still writing/releasing albums and they're completely different here. These guys don't exactly fit in with the periphery crowd either.

"Kinda a loose argument?"
I'm just using his logic here, he even called it progcore which this isn't at all so

I said they occupy the same sphere similar to it. Trouble reading?

"Like I said, if this is your thing it'll probably be a solid 3.5 at best, but I wouldn't expect much different from it than what you could find in any other prog-core/djent artist."
"@Steak heard the album plenty of times. Nothing new. I know progcore is your thing but this does not have a unique voice whatsoever."
Called it progcore twice. Trouble reading?

Yeah, because they are SIMILAR to that scene, and I mentioned that to you because I figured you'd like this based off of your tastes. Fuck me I guess huh?

Are they tho? I don't hear progcore in this brother, I hear more so the likes of Tesseract, Skyharbor, The Contortionist, etc. Two totally different sounds tbh

And I agree, but I also find that it has elements similar to progcore and carries a similar appeal, which is why I mentioned it to you since I thought maybe you'd enjoy it. This is definitely close to TesseracT and Contortionist, no argument there, and both of whom I included.

I think the main issue here is mainly impact (and by that I dont mean the junz heavy appeal). This has casual listening substance but doesn't move past that.

The main issue is that bass sounds like ass

"The main issue is that bass sounds like ass"
Hmm... yeah you're right tbh, but i'd say this has grown on me by a fair margin, love the ambiance it has, actually IMO the ambiance is this albums biggest strength, riffs second
