Your bottom 5 is based. Sonic Forces was a trainwreck. Shadow isn’t much better. I remember back in the day people in school hyping Shadow the Hedgehog up as being better than SA2, which I thought was wild. 2 above 3 is interesting but I respect it. Were you not rly into Mania? Also have you played any of the fan made games? Some are legit great. And that murder mystery Sonic game that came out a few years back
And just out of curiosity what is it about Unleashed you like so much? It’s been a long time since I played it but I remember the pacing being broken up a lot by underwhelming combat sections

I've played a couple of fan games but not recently. Mania was fine but I also played it when I was definitely at my most jaded with the series so might be something I have to come back to at some point. The Murder Mystery was a fun little diversion.
Sonic Unleashed is one of those games I can just play and never get tired of. The day time stages are peak Sonic across all the games with the sheer speed and control you have of Sonic. And I'm a defender of the werehog. I've never had an issue with his controls (Though the jumping lockon can definitely be finicky). Not only that but its probably the most challenging 3D Sonic game which considering what came after...*Push X to win*. I obviously have some rose colored glasses with it (I first played Un-Wii-shed lol) but man, its just so much fun when you know how to play.

I'm kinda surprised that you didn't include Free Riders in the bottom 5. Like, I get that 06, Labyrinth, Shadow, etc. suck in their own ways, but Free Riders is literally fucking unplayable. I remember trying it out when it first came out, and no matter what position I was in, the controls (or I guess movements in this case) were either completely unresponsive or irredeemably wonky. God, the Kinect was such a fucking trainwreck lol
Still in the bottom 3 games I've ever played, or tried to play

Yeah I remember the actual levels being fun in Unleashed but I just couldn’t get into the combat. We might just look for different things in Sonic tho. Part of the reason I love the classics so much (and Mania) is because of their replayability in finding optimal pathing. Most of the fun for me (as it is in Tony Hawks Pro Skater games too) is trying to find the best possible lines to take through trial and error and optimizing my runs

I didnt know Free Riders was a thing but if it was a Konnect game then yeah, it’s automatically trash. Happy to say I didn’t buy into that tech for the same reason I’ve still yet to purchase VR: not properly optimized. I mean, motion controls are way better now, but back then the medium was in its infancy

@Koris
Never actually played Free Riders. Was a PS3/Wii guy growing up. If I did play it, probably would end up in the bottom 5. Its why Boom isnt on that as well. I think those two and Lost World are the only three games I've never played.

I will say, Shadow the Hedgehog is probably the most miserable playing experience I've had (Again, I'll take it over Forces' apathy but thats not saying much). And yes, I was enough of a masochist to get the true ending.
