This is sparse to the point of barely existing.

Amazing review as always, but I don't know, it feels and sounds special to me.

If you cant handle his voice here, definitely dont check his earlier work. Its even more rough.

Darius, this is way more palatable than Wild Hunt, his voice here against there is almost night and day imo

Yeah his voice is definitely more refined here, I'll give the album that much. Of course, I prefer his unchecked rawness, but if you found that annoying then you can still hold out a little bit of hope for this record.

Am I crazy to think that Dark Bird is possibly his very best? It's close between that album and Wild Hunt for me, although I'd probably give the slight edge to The Wild Hunt because it's the first album I heard by him.

It's Wild Hunt by a mile for me. On a first listen this sounds better then Dark Bird but I could never really get into that record for some reason.

lol...I just feel like Dark Bird is where he really got it right -- he fleshed out his instrumentation and production, and the melodies are far more memorable. it's like a magnum opus if bare-bones indie-folk can have such a thing

I don't think Dark Bird wanted to be safe & pretty, albeit also forgettable

Atari you need to write that counterpoint review

Sparring with you just feels wrong and it kinda hurts to the core

Dark Bird is Home is underrated for sure, some of his most emotive tracks. This short documentary about the record really helped me appreciate it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6VMKc-1xZE. It's a total grower but I think it's one of the fullest, most moving accounts of a relationship ending - he fully captures the sadness of heartbreak but also the beauty in letting someone go
