Coming back to this after some time, actually enjoying it more atm, might bump it to a 3
my expectations for this band were too high I guess, still their worst effort imo

never understood the hype for this band tbh.
Yep! Basic.

Horrible album title. The singles were rubbish too. I like everything else they've done though. Is there any point in checking this out?

Nope not really. Bad title, bad art, bad single, bad everything

Give it a spin, you might dig a few tracks.

This is probably going to be my guilty pleasure album of 2019. Rationally speaking, there's nothing about this that I should really like, but for whatever reason this just keeps hitting my early 2000's metalcore nostalgia button in my brain. It's been my go-to gym album for the past week or so.
Ps. there were a few moments throughout this album that gave me a weird deja vu throwback to the band Spineshank (ie. right off the bat with the chorus in Anti-Social).....they don't normally sound anything similar to them, and that's not necessarily a compliment, but again....nostalgia getting the better of me haha.

There's nothing guilty pleasure about this at all. People who never actually stop to think about how a band structure a song are acting like there isn't a lot of craft on this album. Regardless of how much you like WSS' direction here, writing music this seamless with consistently changing sections and transitions is challenging. To be clear disliking this record because you don't like their sound is fine. I take issue with the criticism that this is somehow basic. That slander must come from people who haven't actually heard the generic metalcore they're comparing these guys to.

Agreed. Unless it's Baby Shark, there is no shame in enjoying any form of music.

have you heard their older stuff????
in comparison this is embarrassingly juvenile

Yes, this is much worse than their previous stuff. Juvenile is a pretty accurate descriptor

but what's perhaps even worse is rating this higher than Periphery and Car Bomb...

you have a weird soft spot for simple modern-day metalcore mr. zilla

Periphery is (sadly?) still my favourite album of the year... This I've honestly not come back to in a long time

yes i started listening to them when their second record released in 2015. their previous style was also slightly more to my taste but more formulaic and samey between songs.
i can appreciate this change.

I just generally hate djent and progcore, butt
Modern metalcore can be decent at times, though that in itself is a rare occurrence

periphery is unlistenable for me simply because of the absolutely horrendous clean vocals
