i love it when people show love for this great album it was tough to top illmatic and he didn't but did very well. good to see that stillmatic has a good rating too on sput.

too many sucka 'hip hop heads' say undoubtedly illmatic is undoubtedly the best hip hop record of all time and nas is the goat and shit, yet i'll be like, did you at least like stillmatic? "never heard that, only illmatic" lol

It's not the fans fault he peaked on his first record.

I mean I think nas is one of the best and illmatic is definitely one of the best hip hop albums I've heard but yeah it didn't end there for him. he probably peaked there but there's more stuff worth checking

I say the cover is bad because it's basically a "part II" of illmatic's cover, except the palette is worse imo. I love absorbing the album cover of albums along with the music and hip hop has some cool covers (illmatic and stillmatic are cool imo) but unfortunately this one just isn't good

ya maybe not the fans but for "TOP 10 HIP HOP ALBUMS" lists that dont recommend other good songs by the artists
always fun blaming the media, but at least this went platinum (more i think) so a lotta people heard it

officially i think it's illmatic unquestionable goat album so far as nas and 30% of the 90s hip hop community. follow up also great but cursed by having to live up to his earlier standard he set on illmatic and a lot more of the songs are mass appeal. stillmatic showed that he still had chops 5 years after his last one. it's just all the shit in the middle and the jay z beef during made that make me not really like him as an artist. he still kills shows so i have to factor that in..

the Jay z beef was legendary tho. I was too young to remember the pac and big beef but this one was surreal to me when I was a teenager

ya but like jay and nas were close, jay especially to biggie, he didn't want any of that bullshit. plus they were from the same city it just left a bad taste in my mouth that a guy who lost a good friend to this kinda beef would have to make us all suffer it. hip hip would def be better if we never had beefs and everyone respected each other. you didn't have to say you were better, but you at least respected the artist. especially when the two are nas and jay and they're both kings and both got money

corporations tryna get rappers killed off at the right time so they can make a killing off his next record and call him a legend if he's nice so you buy more of his shit.
