Nihilistic Blues is great

@Toon: Yeah, I'd say this is better than their last album. If only by a hair, I'd say TTS is a 3.3-3.4 really.

TTS is like a 1.6 for me
I think this popier direction suits them better than their metal stuff for the most part. Honestly the worst songs on here are the heavier ones.

I still think That's the Spirit is better.

There is so many effects on his voice holy fuck, this is a weird clusterfuck of random sounds being aggressively mashed together to make something good but in actuality it's just a clusterfuck and it's not good, but this is just my opinion

Yeah it's definitely not going to click with everyone, that's for sure.

yeah the amount of autotune in Oli's voice is just too much at times. All the more proof that the guy can't sing for shit.

Good review, shame the album is hot garbage.

For some reason I don't notice it a ton. Even after three full listens back to back, it feels very restrained compared to something like 30STM's America in terms of autotune usage.

Hey, thanks anyway Kenbo.

@Toon I mean he has blatantly stated in old interviews that the reason there is no singing on the first few albums is for that exact reason haha

He's been improving with his cleans, if you've heard his Radio 1 performances he can at least stay roughly in key now. Still nothing technically spectacular, but it's a bit better than his TTS/Sempiternal era live cleans.

It's better because Jordan does most of the live singing now

"30STM's America in terms of autotune usage."
Speaking of an album that's hot garbage

Well, that too, but I'd say that also Oli's been holding his own in the aforementioned Radio 1 performances.

@Tundra: yeah, it's nowhere near the number of effects on Leto's voice, either that or I just don't notice it.

Oli is nothing more than a hype man now

I can't say this album will break any new major barriers in my music taste other than maybe finally getting into Grimes. Holy SHIT Nihilist Blues fucks, I need more of that.

Oli really needs to prove that he can actually sing live. Playback is bullshit and getting the keyboard player to sing is also bullshit.
