starship troopers was a gutting deconstruction and satire of the book tho. it was supposed to be campy schlock.

"That explains the large budget versus its box office returns."

i was so sad nobody ended up seeing it. The trailers looked amazing, it had a great cast, a great director, and was a fitting sequel that people actually wanted. The fact that nobody cared to actually see it felt so bizarre.

We are getting a short-run anime series in the same universe tho, with Shinichiro Watanabe and the Ghost in the Shell people involved, so I expect it to be good.

Basic Instinct is stupid and predictable and Black Book is long and boring. I will admit that there are aspects of Black Book I enjoyed, but nothing to make me suddenly praise him.

His only good movie was Flesh and Blood, everything else is 5 shades of shit.

"starship troopers was a gutting deconstruction and satire of the book tho. it was supposed to be campy schlock."

When Friedberg and Seltzer made "Vampire's Suck", they didn't fucking name it "Twilight" just to take jab's at the book and the fanbase. You just don't fucking do that. Fans of the book had waited for years to see that book adapted into film and when we finally got it, all we got was "BTW Yer a Fascist" the movie. That's not right. He could have satirized the book without actually using the book material, he didn't have to take things to this level.

He could have named it anything other than "Starship Troopers" and the satire would hold. But to actually adapt the book only to fuck with it and insult the material with the shit we got is just a shitty thing to do.

Fuck him.

Robocop 2, Total Recall (Remake) and the Japanese Starship Troopers movies all rule.

Paul's movies can suck a taint.

Robocop, Total Recall, and Starship Troopers all rule [2]

Let's not forget the first Terminator. I actually like that one more than T2.

Really? I can't stand the first Terminator and Terminator 2 is like my all time favorite Cameron film.

Underflow you are actually based. As groundbreaking in effects as it was, it was basically the blueprint for shitty hollywood sci fi.

There is only one good alien film

Album Rating: 4.5

With regards to posts about Prometheus and Covenant a few pages back, I implore you to check out the soundtracks - Marc Streitenfeld is an underrated young composer and Jed Kurzel gave a pretty fresh spin to Covenant imo.

I forgot to mention how out of place the Sinatra/Elvis songs feel on this, I'd be happy if they left them at the end of the tracklist just to get some kind of cohesiveness. 'Almost Human' feels like filler too.

P.S Robocop 1&2, Terminator 1&2 and Alien+Aliens are all 10/10 kino.
