Dug the track, Pops, but wouldn't put it in a top anything personally. I'll need to check more Wire out tho :3 Sounds like it might've inspired In The Flat Fields by the Bauhaus somewhat

well, yeah. that was more of a traditional raw post-punk, where the word 'punk' was still the actual driving force.

Yup, I certainly noticed that lol. S/T only has a couple tracks I bother returning to (Success is a jam for sure), but I did really enjoy El Pintor. Awesome to see some love for Lighthouse and Not Even Jail. Duuude, on some live versions I've seen, Not Even Jail includes an extensive outro with additional drum work from Sam. It's a great live track :D
Bright Lights: Obstacle 1, Leif Erikson, NYC, Untitled, Hands Away, Roland... (tbh the whole album, really)
Antics: Song Seven (the rerecorded bonus track, not that EP version), Public Pervert, Not Even Jail, A Time To Be So Small, Cmere
OLtA: No I In Threesome, Pioneer To The Falls, Rest My Chemistry, The Lighthouse
S/T: Success (by far), Barricade.... uhhhh Try It On is alright....
El Pintor: All The Rage Back Home, Anywhere (Only the live Brixton version, fuck the studio), Everything Is Wrong, Malfeasance, Tidal Wave

I still stand by the opinion that the s/t has some great tracks.
Memory Serves, Summer Well, Try it On, Safe Without and Success are all good in my book.
Underrated.

Summer Well and Barricade are the only standouts I can remember from that album.

This is definitely an Interpol album.

Thought this was pretty great. God damn that first song is amazing though. Def my fav on the album. That's two albums in a row that they've killed it on the opening track.

I might check this for old time's sake/morbid curiosity

I love the raw sound too. I was watching an interview where they talked about the album being recorded live and it comes off really well. You can even hear the pedal changes when the chorus or something kicks in. Reminds me of my old band practices lol

i think this is a serviceable album and i'll keep listening to it but it a lot of tracks feel like they've no identity so most of it just washes over me. it's a little one-dimensional.

I'm not disappointed with this album, it just feels like they could've done more or better... There's some seriously great moments here and then there are times where I look to see how much time is left in a song and I'm like "damn, 2 more minutes??"
The production to me too is super hit or miss. Sometimes it is incredibly unique sounding and layered and wet, not just for interpol, but for mainstream music as a whole. But other times, the same reasons that make the sound of the album so mysterious and excellent to my ear, make it an absolute mess of reverb and instruments fighting eachother in the mix. There's so much wet high end on this album and sometimes it's just a swamp of drawn out and decaying notes and hi hats. Which sucks for me to say, because it was recorded literally right down the road from me, in Cassadaga NY. If im at college or home, its never more than 45 minutes or so from me

The production sounds pretty compressed and muddy to me, a pretty noticeable step down from El Pintor. I'll keep jamming and hopefully it'll grow on me, b/c right now I'm leaning toward anatelier's thoughts.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: This is a less electronic Preoccupations' New Material.

Except that album sucks
