Usually, I only read album reviews on sputnik, but all the negative feedback towards this album triggered me enough to finally create an account lol. So thanks for that.
I actually like this album a lot, even though it doesn't have the raw aggression and power of KWAS (which is still my favourite album by Parkway). There's not a single song that bores me on Reverence after listening to it for maybe the fifth time from start to end. Chronos, Wishing Wells, In Blood, I Hope You Rot, Absolute Power are the outstanding tracks for me.
Maybe it's just me getting old.

seriously, Wishing Wells is actually a good tune. If they did an album of actual songs like that, I'd be down for it.
But no, we have to deal with slightly-more-aggressive FFDP

Agreed hard with that.
Hey Avenged Sevenfold can I borrow your homework? Yeah man, just lay down some Five Finger macho so no one can tell.

"Dude Wishing Wells is awesome" "Wishing Wells is actually a good tune."
TKS guys, I liked it to. Gonna check the album with low expectations though, since I'm pretty demanding with metalcore releases nowadays. They better be different or they're dead to me lol

Oh yeah this is definitely "different" haha

Liked Wishing Wells. Didn't care for much else TBH. I can get into Void if I'm in the right 'anthem metal' kind of mood. I dunno. This was a big letdown for me, and I actually LIKED most of Ire. I really fucking hate the transition to spoken word and rap-style lyrical delivery. I don't mind Winston McCall trying to sing, so long as he doesn't become convinced that he can and should sing often (see Anders Fridén and In Flames' last two three albums for an example of what NOT to do).6

This entire album was basically cool concepts with fucking terrible execution, really disappointed in this.

Absolutely. SOAPF was an enjoyable album, but it was sort of a harbinger of the fuckery to follow. I agree that SOAPF was twice as good as this album. It's just too unfocused and muddled in tone and delivery. There was also just too much filler garbage (Cemetery Bloom for instance).

Chronos is probably a third song I might listen to from this album once or twice. It's not nearly as good at Wishing Wells and The Void, but at least it sounds like PWD. I like the range of Winston's screams, though, as a song it's just not a very good. It's just kind of plodding and boring and recycles a bunch of riffs from previous albums.
If that's the third best song on the album (and would easily be the worst song on the extended version of Ire) it really speaks ill of Reverence as a whole.

The thing about the whole Anthem Metal thing and The Void, is that they did it so much fucking better with Vice Grip on the last album.
No love for In Blood, Hagg?

I like Vice Grip a lot but I still thought it was one of the weaker songs on Ire. Don't get me wrong, it's at the top of my gym play list, but there were much better songs on the album.
I just went back and listened to In Blood again twice in a row. It's probably fourth best. Feels kind of off to me. Winston McCall trying to be more pitchy and less brutal just feels odd to me. In the last minute when he transitions from being whiny to back to gargling hammers, it gets better.
