sorry for the long rant but i feel like some users are just kinda tossed to the side on here for those in higher positions and i feel like it’s unfair to those users (including me, brett, and anyone else who’s felt like this) that have worked our asses off to spread the word on music we love (or in this case, hate) and kinda just get tossed to the side because we don’t have a fancy tag next to our name :/

again, no ill will to ANY staff members or contributors, as i love legitimately everyone on the both lists (for the most part ofc, i don’t know every single member personally) but this has been something on my mind for a while and i feel like someone has to say it and if nobody else will i guess i’ll go for it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

'Shadow Boxing made me physically cringe. What the fuck were they thinking with the rap bits? Winston’s whisper screaming does this no justice either... Chronos and Wishing Wells are the only listenable songs'
Definitely a 'love it or hate' quality to Shadow Boxing, but to be honest I feel like they pulled it off flawlessly. It took me a few listens to really get used to it and now it's probably my early favourite. Seems to be the general consensus for people liking the album as well.
Didn't find anything enjoyable about In Blood? That chorus riff sounds like its ripped straight from Deep Blue.

i mean, i’ve been lucky enough to be appreciated by the mods enough that my reviews have gotten enough traction over time that i’ve been able to move to other platforms to expand my writing, but to those users that may still wanna get there, it makes it a lot harder when the users get overshadowed so easily. i love you all and i love the mods/staff/contributors and everyone that’s involved with the site, but that decision just feels almost inconsiderate in a sense. but again, i don’t want to start an argument, i just wish there was more user appreciation for the future of the site, and it hurts and concerns me deeply that the site that helped me get my jumpstart into the writing world isn’t thinking as much anymore about helping other users just as (and in some cases, more) deserving of having a chance as i was

At first I thought this was just kinda meh, then Winston started rapping and I could stop laughing. Why did I listen to this again?

God damn, what a disappointment. The spoken word stuff is just the worst. Shadow Boxing in the middle when it gets heavy l am thinking ''yeah l like this'' then it just stops and the speaking starts. Completely kills it. Chronos was the only song l even remotely came close to liking.

But Y'all are so right about this, this fucking sucks.
Dropped my rating by a whole 1, the more I listen to it the more I hate it.

This one’s for @ianblxdsoe:
First things first I’ll mention that I won’t put words in the mouths of the staffers/mods/contribs/anyoneelseforthatmatter but the feature rotation (being the four squares on the home page) depends largely on:
-The amount of releases per week/day/reviewing cycle
-the amount of recent reviews pertaining to “current” releases
-requests made in the forums for features
-mods real life time availability to regard/disregard said requests
-staffer/contrib reviews of “current” releases (has less effect than what you think)
-popularity of said releases including SEO
-what’s waiting to be featured (happens on busy review weeks)
-quality of the review
As well as a few other pertaining relevant whatever’s. There’s also a chance that the feature or another of the same album will be put back into circulation again if the mods deem it. Another way to think about it is if there’s a potential for a few hundred users to review new music, somebody is going to miss out.
I’ll also add that if you “work your arses off” it’s going to get noticed eventually, you might even end up with a contrib/staff tag (just speculation/no promises) and find yourself writing an overly long comment like this one.
I don’t know why you feel “users” are unappreciated, you guys are awesome. It’s just better to not take things quite so personally.

can’t say I care for this band in the first place but the two songs I heard off it were horrendous. I don’t even wanna find out what the rest of this sounds like

Listening to Axe to Grind or whatever that shitty song's called, i was wondering how someone, especially in their 30s, can make something so cringeworthy without feeling embarrassed by it. How were they making that and thinking, "yeah thats good, i dont mind if everyone i know sees this."

For real, it's like they just aged 20 years in the time between Atlas and this and became dad metal. Like none of this is good
