i was very surprised to see that rating but once i read it i gotta admit that it's a good review.
metallica does sometimes get repetitive in its riffs.

I see this as nothing more than a bunch of oversights to stir up some attention and controversy. If that's what you people call having "balls", then so be it.

And 'Hurt' is a grand song. Actually, it was the song that got me into Cash. Good stuff.

didn't NIN come out with that song first or is that a johnny cash cover.

So if someone explicitly states they don't like Metallica, then their motives are immediately suspect and they must be accused of simply trying to get a reaction out of people like you? That's some pretty twisted logic, and also rather egotistical.

1.5 is a bit harsh, but I do see what you mean. James' voice isn't that bad, but then I don't really care much about vocals. I might change my rating as well, because slowly songs like Leper Messiah, Disposable Heroes and especially The Thing that Should Not Be are fast losing their appeal to me. The bass is also incredibly sucky for what we know Cliff can do. And the production is god-awful.

I would just like to clear up a few things. I didn't review this album just for attention and to create controversy, I reviewed it because when I looked on the Master of Puppets page it showed nearly every review was 5/5, witht the exception of two neither of which put this past the 3.5/5 mark. I thought that the reviews on this basically gave the opinion this album was perfect and in my opinion is not true. I wanted to let people onto the negative features of the band and album. I didn't write this review just to give it a low score, this honestly how I feel about the band. The vocals, and drumming are just flat out terrible, they reuse the same riffs, the bass and guitar while deemed amazing by some doesn't seem to impress a huge amount, or really at all.

About the pro and con with Metallica in their, it was meant as comic relief. I knew that a crapload of people would be angered by this review, and I wanted to ease the tension so to speak. Some people got it and some obviously didn't, but it was only meant in a joking way.

I enjoyed reading some negatives about this album. It was well written, good job Drunken Viking. The reason I rate it a 5 is because I really enjoy it and the song Master of puppets grabbed my attention. And for all the people who are telling Drunken Viking to try and play these solos, all I can say is one thing: I have been playing guitar for a little over a year and can play the whole Master Of Puppets song. It is very easy so I laugh everytime I read someone telling him to go play it. Good job on the review, like I said, I actually enjoyed it, though I completely disagree. This Message Edited On 06.19.06
